Rural areas now have chance at high-speed Internet service

Area residents who do not have access to high-speed Internet may qualify for free satellite equipment and installation under a federal government program.

The federal government has made funding available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to helping achieve its goal of making high-speed Internet available to millions of Americans who do not have access to it.

The federal government selected HughesNet, a provider of high-speed Internet by satellite.
